Find a way to reconnect with the young adults who are not in employment, education or training.
The Challenge: NEET Needs
With Libraries Without Borders
In Brussels 19.8% of 18-24 years, and 16,4% in Wallonia, are NEETs (Not in Employment, Education or Training). Some of these young people are active job seekers, are traveling or engaged in other activities (personal project, self-training, etc.), but others backed out of education or jobs.
How do we reconnect with them? How do we reach them? What activity should we offer to inspire them and rebuild their self-confidence? How do we create a link between these activities and the existing structures (advice, education orientation, professional training, Forem, Actiris, etc.)? How to promote vocational training, avoid stereotype or gender barriers?
Collaboration with Libraries Without Borders
Libraries Without Borders ( BSF) is very interested in exploring possible collaborations with Hack Belgium teams who come up with promising solutions to their challenges.
Libraries Without Borders’ mission is to improve access to education and information for all by strengthening the actions of librarians and other actors of formal and non-formal education in France, Belgium and 20 other countries around the world.
Since 2010, following the earthquake in Haiti, BSF has developed a strong expertise in the field of intervention in situations of humanitarian crisis thanks to a media library kit that can be deployed on the most difficult terrain. At the same time, BSF is naturally committed to the digital world and is developing numerous projects that make digital technology available to education.

ABOUT THE EDUCATION SOCIETAL THEME
Millions of children around the world still can’t go to school or have access to deplorably bad education, which is penalising them for life. Even in Europe, we are leaving many behind, with educational inequality remaining high. So join us in building more equitable education that prepares us all for a more knowledge-intensive economy.
