Attracting young drivers towards on-demand transport solutions.
The Challenge: Young people for inclusive on-demand transport
Taxistop has an on-demand transport service for elderly. Today 40.000 elderly, often isolated persons are making use of the system, offered by a pool of 3.000 voluntary drivers. The drivers are often retired people who like driving and helping others. The system is not-for-profit. Only the mileage cost for the drivers is refunded.
We want to expand this service to other people; people in poverty, young people without a driver’s license. But how can we attract new volunteers and make the services attractive and accessible?
The Challenger: Taxistop
Taxistop is Belgian NGO who creates shared and connected mobility solutions: Carpool.be, cambio, on-demand transport for elderly, mobihubs, … Taxistop also works on public and political awareness by campaigns, presentations, innovation projects.
To the team that provides the most promising solution to the challenge, Taxistop offers mentorship and possibly participation to an international event, after Hack Belgium. How this follow-up support will take shape, will appear at the Life After Hack Belgium Pitch event.
Taxistop will attend the Life After Hack Belgium Pitch event, where opportunities for collaboration and exchange can be crystallised.
Create Your Solution To The Challenges
To solve the above challenges, we recommend you take part in the Digital Mobility Solutions for All Workshop in the ‘Fast, Clean Mobility for All’ theme at the end of Day 1, where a mix of ideas will be brainstormed and teams will be formed.

About the Mobility Societal Theme
We’re the so-called crossroads of Europe but the movement of goods and people is increasingly hobbled by congestion. Transport is also responsible for 20% of our total greenhouse gas emissions, it shortens our lives through air pollution and it kills more than 700 people a year through road accidents. Radical ideas for transport are required!
