We’re super excited to announce that VITO, the Flemish Institute of Technology, will be at Hack Belgium in full force with a workshop on sustainable design and a table in the Science & Technology Experience Zone. They’ll also be taking a close look at the teams taking part in Hack Belgium to explore possible partnerships!
What is VITO?
The Flemish Institute for Technology Research (VITO) stands for excellence in cleantech, sustainable solutions, transition to circular. Its mission is to support industry, SME, starters, policy makers & citizens with R&D, advice and services in sustainable health & energy, durable materials & chemistry; solutions for the cities of the future, land-use, water & earth observation.
Why are they involved in Hack Belgium?
The mission of VITO is to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable, preferably circular society by providing expert advice and R&D. At Hack Belgium we hope to discover the ideas and teams that can help make that happen.
Who from VITO is attending?
VITO’s Johan Geysen, Venturing, will lead the delegation. Johan will also give a workshop (Roadmap to Circular) and is available throughout the 3-day event for expert advice and connection to the wider VITO ecosystem. Also, a number of VITO PhD and postdoc researchers will be taking part in Hack Belgium! They are our junior experts.
What type of support can VITO offer Hack Belgium teams?
VITO is serious about their commitment to Hack Belgium teams! Provided a team is serious about inlicensing VITO technology at the event. They could receive support from the VITO Tech Transfer team, which can start with ideation but can even include founding and funding of your startup. VITO will attend the Life After Hack Belgium Pitch event in April to explore possible next steps with interesting Hack Belgium teams, so make sure you make it that far!
